I recently spent some time with Waves Curves Resolve, and after testing it in a few real-world mixing situations, I wanted to share my thoughts. This plugin sits in the same category as Curves Equator and soothe2, but it approaches the problem differently.
Curves Resolve is a frequency unmasking plugin โ you put it on a track, feed another signal into the sidechain, and it dynamically makes space where the two signals conflict. It works within four defined bands rather than a fully free-form spectral processor, making it faster to dial in during real sessions.
In my workflow I mostly used it for vocal-to-instrumental relationships. Put it on the instrumental bus, sidechain the vocal in, and as soon as you turn up the Main knob, the vocal comes forward โ not because it's louder, but because masking is being reduced. Compared to soothe2, Resolve feels less flexible for complex spectral work but faster for targeted ducking tasks.
Waves Curves Resolve is a solid, focused unmasking tool. Fast, effective, and transparent. If you need quick vocal ducking and instrument separation, it delivers.
